The AWA-AI series is produced with indigo dyeing, one of the Tokushima’s traditional industries, which has a 400-year history. “Awa” is the old name of Tokushima Prefecture, and “ai” means indigo in Japanese. The dye used for the AWA-AI series is the only traditional Sukumo (dye made of fermented indigo leaves) made by Akihito Sato, who is a 19th generation employee of Sato Awa-ai Seizosho (factory), one of the "Present-Day Great Craftsmen" as designated by Japanese government.
All the products are also dyed and produced by Ranshu Yano, an indigo dyeing artist and an owner of “Hon-aizome Yano Kojo.”
The furniture of the AWA-AI series is unique and a genuine indigo product.
